Oberzeiring, Styria, market town in the district of Judenburg, alt. 
932 m, pop. 991, area 38.23 km%%sup 2/%, located on the 
banks of Blahbach River, at the eastern foot of the Woelzer Tauern 
mountains. - Asthma clinic with medicinal gallery in the former silver 
mine, show mine with mining museum since 1956, spa resort. - Formerly 
the largest Styrian silver mine, mining dates back to prehistoric 
times, mine disaster in 1365, in the 18%%sup th/%  and 19%%sup th/%  
centuries some extraction of iron ore. Parish church (core in late 
Gothic style, later adaptations, furnishings in neo-Gothic style); 
cemetery church in early Gothic style (Miners´ Church) with 
Gothic cycle of frescoes (around 1340-1350) and high altar 
(18%%sup th/%  century) by B. Prandtstaetter; Calvary church 
(1857-1860); old burghers' houses in the town centre dating back to 
the 16%%sup th/%  /17%%sup th/%  centuries.
