Okopenko, Andreas, b. Košice, Slovakia (then Kaschau), March 
15, 1930, poet, narrative writer, playwright, author of radio plays. 
Since 1939 resident in Vienna. Published works in  "Neue Wege" and 
developed at the same time as  Concrete Poetry and the  Wiener Gruppe 
an independent literary style in which he experiments with language. 
In his encyclopaedic novel ("Lexikon einer sentimentalen Reise zum 
Exporteurtreffen in Druden", 1970) keywords are arranged in 
alphabetical order, how they are combined is left to the reader. His 
poetry show elements of irony and parody ("Der Akazienfresser", 1974). 
Awarded the Grand Austrian State Prize in 1998.
