Olympic Games: Austria has participated in all Olympic Games held in 
the Modern Age with the exception of the 7%%sup th/%  Summer Olympics 
in Antwerp in 1920, where it was not invited. In relation to the size 
of Austria´s population, Austria has won numerous medals. On 
account of Austria´s alpine geography, participants have been 
especially successful at Winter Games (mostly in alpine ski 
disciplines). In 1933 and in 1951 Vienna was the site of International 
Olympic Committee meetings; Austria has twice hosted the  Olympic 
Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and in 1976 (see table for medal 
winners).
