Urfahr-Umgebung, alt. 270 m, pop. 3,796, area
11.84 km%%sup 2/%, centre of trade and industry where the River
Rodl flows into the Danube, west of Linz. - Ottensheim-Wilhering
run-of-river power station (erected in 1973, 179 MW), highway
maintenance depot; building industry and secondary building firms,
warehouse, brickworks, transportation. - Documented mention in 1146,
right to hold markets given in 1228; late-Gothic parish church
(1462-1467, net vault around 1500, renovated); Pietà (1410) in
parish house; former Spitalskirche church (1400) desecrated in 1778;
mediaeval castle (documented mention in 1148, rebuilt in 1896) with
mediaeval keep and arcades.
