b. Linz (Upper Austria), Oct. 30, 1949, studied law, politician 
(Austrian People´s Party, OeVP). From 1973 local politician in 
Traun (Upper Austria), from 1981 OeVP party chairman of Traun, 
1985-1988 deputy mayor. 1984-1995 OeVP-district party chairman of the 
Linz area. From 1979 member of the Landtag of Upper Austria, 1986/87 
OeVP provincial party secretary, from 1987 Landesrat, from 1990 OeVP 
deputy party chairman of the province of Upper Austria, since1995 OeVP 
chairman and Landeshauptmann of Upper Austria.
