b. Linz, Upper Austria, May 30, 1934, manager. Joined  VOEST 
company (Vereinigte Oesterreichische Eisen- und Stahlwerke) in 1960 as 
an employee in the industrial plant division; member of the VOEST 
board of management from 1986. As the VOEST-Alpine group was 
restructured, he became general manager of the  AI Technologies AG in 
1991, deputy general manager of Austrian Industries AG in 1993, and 
1993-1999 general manager of  VA Technologie AG.
