Paar, noble family originally from Italy; held estates in Styria and 
in Bohemia. Postmasters of Styria in 1596, from 1624 court post 
masters of the hereditary Habsburg territories; kept the title of 
Obersthofgeneralerbland-Postmeister; received a pension for this 
position until the 19th century; became imperial princes in 1769.
