National historiographer; representative of Austro-slavism, 1848/49 
political leader of the Czech nation in the  Kremsier, Reichstag of. 
Member of the 1st Austrian Parliament, from 1861 leader of the 
"Old Czechs" in the Upper Chamber of the Reichsrat and Bohemian 
Landtag. P. refused to represent Bohemia in the Frankfurt National 
Assembly   (see) Frankfurter Nationalversammlung  and drew up plans 
for a federalist reorganisation of the Austrian empire.
