!!!Pandur

Pandur (pandour), 1) during the 17%%sup th/%  and 18%%sup th/%  
centuries, the term pandur stood for a soldier in the Austrian army 
who came from the Slavic and Romanian parts of the empire ( Military 
Border). The armed (life) guards of Croatian and Slovanian noblemen 
were also called pandurs. The well-known Pandur Corps was set up by 
Baron von  Trenck in 1741 and transformed into the 53%%sup rd/%  
infantry regiment in 1756.

2) Pandur, the name of an armoured car developed and built by the 
Steyr works. It was introduced into the Austrian Federal Army in 1996.
