b. Vienna, May 15, 1759, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 1, 1824, composer, pianist, singer. Became blind as a 
child, musical instruction under A.  Salieri (through intervention by 
her godmother Empress Maria Theresia) and others. Numerous concerts in 
Vienna and major tour 1783-1786 (Paris, London). Founded an institute 
for musical education in Vienna in 1808. Amongst her friends were L.  
Mozart and W. A.  Mozart, A. Salieri and F. A.  Mesmer. 
J. Riedinger created the first notation for blind people for her.
