Parndorf, Burgenland, municipality in the district of Neusiedl am See, 
alt. 182 m, pop. 2,648 (1981: pop. 2,352), area 
59.31 km%%sup 2/%, railway junction situated north of Lake 
Neusiedl, between the north-eastern spur of Leithagebirge Mountains 
and the Parndorf Plain. Influential Croatian minority (1991: 
857 persons, approx. 32 % of the total population). - 
Autobahn maintenance agency, seed industry, building industry and 
trade, production of insulation glass, metal processing, factory 
outlet ("Fashion Factory") for textile products. - Prehistoric and 
Roman finds, documented mention in 1268, around 1570 re-settled by 
Croatians. Parish church (re-opened in 1572), Romanesque east tower 
with apse, Baroque nave (1716-1718) with hall; sepulchral chapel of 
the Harrach family (1826); Baroque plague chapel. North of the town is 
an entrenchment built by the Kuruc rebels after 1705.
