d. Vienna, July 14, 1996, actor, director, father of the actors 
Nikolaus P. (b. Zurich, Nov. 19, 1939) and Stephan P.-Raky (b. Vienna, 
July 7, 1948). Debut at the Raimundtheater, 1926 engagement at the 
Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna, 1927-1933 at German theatres, 
1933-1938 at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna. 1938 emigration 
to Switzerland (1938-1945 actor and director at the Schauspielhaus 
Zurich); after his return with W. Heinz managed the "Neues Theater in 
der Scala" (1948-1956). As an ardent communist went to East Berlin 
(1956-1961 Deutsches Theater), but gave also guest performances as an 
actor and director at West German and Austrian theatres. In the 1980s 
productions of the Dario Fo street theatre in Vienna; worked for film 
and TV. Nestroy ring (for outstanding acting) 1954 and 1990 and other 
awards.
