d. Rottach-Egern (Germany), Jan. 26, 1974, Kammersaenger* (lyric 
tenor), singer of operas, concerts and oratories. 1928-1945 at the 
Munich Opera, from 1946 member of the Vienna State Opera; performed at 
the Salzburg Festival and in London; also known for his 
interpretations of popular Viennese songs (Wienerlieder).
