!!!Pawlatschentheater
Pawlatschentheater (probably originating from the Czech term
"pavlac" = open passage), popular and traditional type of
old Viennese Gag Show or impromptu theatre. Barrels and boards were
used to set up very simple stages in the open air or in simple
restaurants in Vienna's suburbs, where popular folk-singers (
Volkssaenger) gave performances ("Pawlatschen prima donna");
revival and reintroduction since 1959 as part of the Vienna Festival.
