b. Obermieger (municipality of Ebenthal in Kaernten, Carinthia), July 6, 1824, 
d. St. Ruprecht near Klagenfurt (Carinthia), March 30, 1871, painter 
of landscapes, genre scenes, animals and still-life. Studied at the 
Munich Academy, created about 1,200 oil paintings and was known mainly 
for his landscapes of the Austrian Alpine regions (e.g. Grossglockner, 
Dobratsch, Saualpe, Magdalensberg).
