!!!Pfaffenhofen Pfaffenhofen, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land, alt. 642 m, pop. 979, area 7.00 km%%sup 2/%, in the Upper Inn valley, on the south bank of the River Inn, opposite Telfs. - Branch of the advanced-level commercial school of Innsbruck, female religious educational orders; concrete factory, trade in furniture, tourism. - Documented mention in 1197; underneath the present parish church (consecrated in 1310, redecorated in Baroque style, later re-Gothicised), remains of an early Christian church (5%%sup th/% /6%%sup th/% centuries) with one nave but without an apse and of a hall church with east apse and 2 richly decorated men's graves (around 700); north of the church, field of serial graves (7%%sup th/% /8%%sup th/% centuries, of Bavarian origin); Hoertenberg castle ruin; Pfaffenhofen tower (documented mention in 1269). !Literature E.-A.
