b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), June 7, 1872, 
d. Piburg (municipality of Oetz, Tyrol), July 20, 1947, paediatrician. 
From 1902 head of the paediatric clinic in Graz (successor to T. von  
Escherich), 1906-1939 university professor and head of the paediatric 
clinic in Munich. Specialised in questions of heredity, nutrition and 
development. The fadenreaction to coli bacteria also bears his name.
