Philosophische Lehranstalt (Philosophical Teaching Institutions), 
university institution granted to each diocese by Emperor 
Franz II in 1802, conferred the same titles as the philosophical 
faculty of universities; in 1849, these institutions were incorporated 
into the last two years of the  Gymnasium secondary school type.
