!!!Pichelmayer, Karl

b. Berndorf/Bruck an der Mur, Styria, Aug. 6, 1868, 
d. Moedling, Lower Austria, Jan. 23, 1914, engineer. Studied 
mechanical engineering at Graz University of Technology. Assistant to 
A. von  Ettingshausen, focused on electrical engineering and, from 
1891, was employed by Siemens & Halske company, where he became one of 
the leading designers of electrotechnical machinery. In 1906 Professor 
of Electrotechnical Machinery Theory and Design at Vienna University 
of Technology. His formula for the circuit-changing voiltage in 
commutator motors is still valid today. Pichelmayer was also 
instrumental in pioneering reforms of teaching practice at the 
university.
