!!!Pichler, Franz, geb. 1936

b. Thalgau (Salzburg), July 23, 1936, computer scientist. After his 
training as a communications engineer studied mathematics and physics 
in Innsbruck. From 1973 university professor of systems theory at the 
Institute of Statistics and Computer Science at the University of 
Linz. 1979 founded the Institute of Systems Sciences at the University 
of Linz, which he has headed since 1988 (Department of Systems Theory 
and Information Technology). Vice president of the Austrian Society of 
Cybernetics. Specialises in questions of systems theory and 
technology, the optimisation of automation models in chip-design and 
the modelling and simulation of complex technical systems.
