!!!Piffl, Friedrich Gustav

b. Landskron (Czech Republic), Oct. 15, 1864, 
d. Vienna, April 21, 1932, 1913-1932 Archbishop of Vienna, 1914 
cardinal. 1907-13 provost of the monastery at Klosterneuburg and 
teacher at the theological college there. 1910 founded the Academy of 
Church Music, after 1918 devoted himself to the Catholic welfare 
organization "Caritas", established 42 additional sites for holding 
mass, as well as 18 new churches in the archdiocese of Vienna and 5 in 
Burgenland; apostolic administrator of Burgenland. 1927 introduced the 
 "Catholic Action" in Austria; even as bishop committed to pastoral 
care and maintaining close contact with the people.
