Pinggau, Styria, market town in the district of Hartberg, alt. 
527 m, pop. 3,141, area 58.90 km%%sup 2/%, on the eastern 
bank of the River Pinka, opposite Friedberg, near the border to 
Burgenland. - Landwehrlager storehouse of the Federal Armed Forces, 
forestry supervisory station, pumping station of Adria-Wien Pipeline, 
motorway and highway maintenance depot, ecologically benign 
district-heating station; manufacture of bottle caps, sportswear and 
furniture. - Gothic pilgrimage church of Maria Hasel (documented 
mention in 1377, rebuilt in 1703-1706) with Baroque interior and 
frescoes by J. C. Hackhofer.
