b. Hirschstetten near Vienna, March 30, 1880, 
d. Vienna, April 17, 1966, pioneer of rocket technology, brother of 
Clemens von  Pirquet; P. was one of the founders of the Austrian 
Society for space research (1926) and in 1928 proved the necessity of 
space stations for interplanetary space flights.
