b. Vienna, Sept. 19, 1794, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 29, 1868, precision mechanic, pioneer of the 
construction of microscopes. 1823 founded a workshop for optical 
mechanics in Vienna, 1830 created the first dialytic telescope, used 
chromatic lenses for magnifying glasses and from 1829 built numerous 
microscopes of 5 different types, as well as binoculars.
