b. St. Poelten (Lower Austria), June 15, 1917, 
d. Vienna, March 16, 1985, civil servant of the provincial government 
and politician (Austrian People´s Party, OeVP). 1967-1975 
OeVP-party chairman in the province of Lower Austria, 1968 chairman of 
the Austrian Federation of Workers and Employees (OeAAB) of Lower 
Austria, 1954-1959 member of the Bundesrat, 1959-1979 member of the 
Nationalrat. As Federal Minister of Defence (1964-1970) pushed through 
the purchase of Saab interceptors. strongly influenced the personnel 
decisions of the OeVP.
