b. Kufstein (Tyrol), March 8, 1927, 
d. Kitzbuehel (Tyrol), Nov. 11, 1994, skier. 1952 won a silver medal 
in giant slalom and bronze medal in downhill at the Olympic Games in 
Oslo; 1954 downhill world champion and second in combination. Because 
of an advertising photo was disqualified from the Olympic Games, 
became professional and there too became world champion.
