Pregarten, Upper Austria, market town in the district of Freistadt, 
alt. 425 m, pop. 4,199, area 27.78 km%%sup 2/%, north-west 
of the confluence of Feldaist and Waldaist rivers, in the Muehlviertel 
Region. - District court, forestry inspectorate, local branches of the 
district commission and the regional health and social insurance 
agency, bridge and road maintenance depots, slaughterhouse, mill, 
steel construction company, brickworks, building industry, 
carpenter´s workshops, warehouse, trading firms. -Neo-Gothic 
parish church (1893-1897); Reichenstein Palace, altered from a 
medieval castle into a Renaissance palace in 1576, now in ruins; early 
Gothic castle chapel with stained glass windows (early 14%%sup th/% 
 century), altars (1740-1750), castle museum.
