!!!Pressekonzentration Newspapers, Concentration of, a development which has been observed on the daily newspaper market in all industrialised countries since about 1950: the number of newspapers is decreasing while total circulation and the circulation figures of some extremely successful papers are increasing. A distinction is commonly made between concentration of publications (1946: 35 titles in Austria; 1998: only 17) and economic concentration (large-scale publishing houses produce several newspapers; Mediaprint). In Austria, concentration in terms of circulation is striking: The three largest newspapers ( "Kronen-Zeitung", "taeglich Alles" and "Kurier") command 65 % of the total circulation. !Literature Institut fuer Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaften der Universitaet Salzburg (ed.), Medienbericht 4, 1993. %%language [Back to the Austrian Version|AEIOU/Pressekonzentration|class='wikipage austrian'] %% [{FreezeArticle author='AEIOU' template='Lexikon_1995_englisch'}] [{ALLOW view All}][{ALLOW comment All}][{ALLOW edit FreezeAdmin}]
