b. Bolzano/Bozen (South Tyrol), May 28, 1834, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 5, 1917, civil servant, photographer and Christian 
Socialist politician. 1887 founded with A. Latschka the "Christian 
Socialist Society", from which the future Christian Socialist Party 
got its name. 1884-1897 published the newspaper "Volksfreund".
