Rhaeto-Romans, Romanised descendants of the  Raetians: Grison Romans 
in Grisons (Switzerland), the Ladins in South Tirol and the Friulians. 
They still speak old dialects (Rhaeto-Roman language derives from 
Vulgar Latin) and practice ancient customs and traditions. Some 
Rhaeto-Romans lived in Vorarlberg (Montafon) and the western part of 
Tirol until the 17%%sup th/%  century.
