Roeck, Friedrich, b. Imst (Tyrol), July 14, 1879, 
d. Linz (Upper Austria), Nov. 10, 1953, ethnologist, 1927 director of 
the Vienna Ethnological Museum, which he established. Popularised 
ethnology, decoded the Codex Vindobonensis Mexicanus (Maya 
hieroglyphs).
