!!!Rüegg, Mathias

Rueegg, Mathias, b. Zurich (Switzerland), Dec. 8, 1952, 
composer. 1973-1975 studied at the Musikhochschule (now University of 
Music and Dramatic Arts) in Graz; since 1976 has lived in Vienna. 1977 
co-founder and director of the Vienna Art Orchestra, 1983-1987 
director of the Vienna Art Choir, 1983-1990 musical collaboration with 
E.  Jandl. Initiator and artistic director of numerous Austrian and 
international music festivals, and since 1993 artistic director of the 
Viennese jazz club "Porgy & Bess". Has written over 300 
compositions for the Vienna Art Orchestra as well as music for 
numerous stage works and films. In recent years he has devoted himself 
increasingly to compositions for chamber ensembles and soloists; 
numerous recordings with the Vienna Art Orchestra.

Fuenf Bilder ohne Rahmen, 1987 (jazz soloist, orchestra); M, 
1994 (after John Cage; voice, mixed orchestra); Mozart´s Balls, 
1995 (string quartet); Farmers and Wives - a little trilogy in 
monomany, 1995; Sunaris, 1996 (triangle, chamber orchestra). -
