d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), March 31, 1984, theologist, dogmatist, 
religious philosopher, Jesuit, brother of Hugo  Rahner. 1949-1964 
Professor at Innsbruck University, 1964-1971 in Munich and Muenster. 
Influential consultant to the Second Vatican Council, co-editor of the 
"Lexikon fuer Theologie and Kirche".
