b. Petzelsdorf (Lower Austria), April 5, 1945, writer and translator. 
Studied music, German and English, 1972-1984 teacher, since then 
free-lance writer; lives part of the time in Duino near Trieste. 
Author of poems and prose under strict observance of form on the 
condition of modern man (Kaputte Mythen, 1992). Awarded W. H. Auden 
Translation Prize 1991, G. Trakl Prize 1994.
