Ramingstein, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of 
Tamsweg, alt. 970 m, pop. 1,510, area 94.13 km%%sup 2/%, 
small tourist centre (25,879 overnight stays in 1992) situated on the 
Mur River, in the south-eastern part of the Lungau region. - 
Protestant Youth Welfare recreation centre, Kendlbruck electric power 
station, production of building materials, transport enterprises. - 
Silver and ore mining from 1443 to 1791 (guided tours through the 
tunnels); parish church (1890-1894); ruins of Finstergruen Castle, 
Neue Burg (1900-1905, holiday home); Wintergruen Castle, destroyed by 
fire in 1841 except for the steward's house; Maria Hollenstein 
pilgrimage church and blast furnace (18%%sup th/%  century) in 
Kendlbruck.
