Ranten, Styria, municipality in the district of Murau, alt. 
951 m, pop. 1,114, area 38.84 km%%sup 2/%, on the Rantenbach 
stream, in upper Styria. - Trade, summer tourism. - Gothic parish 
church (documented mention in 1155, built in the 15%%sup th/% 
 century), Gothic frescoes (around 1470, with additions around 
1500, 1521), Reformational fresco cycle (around 1570) and fresco of 
St. Christopher (1517) on the exterior wall; Haufenhof farmsteads.
