Ratz, Erwin, b. Graz (Styria), Dec. 22, 1898, 
d. Vienna, Dec. 12, 1973, musical theorist. Studied under G.  Adler 
and A.  Schoenberg. 1945-1973 taught at the Academy of Music and the 
Performing Arts in Vienna; president of the International G. Mahler 
Society and head of the Austrian section of the International Society 
of Modern Music.
