Legal Consequences: The most important legal consequence for a civil
servant convicted of a criminal offence is forfeiture of office
(Section 27, Penal Code); this holds for civil servants who are
sentenced to more than one year's imprisonment for an offence
committed intentionally. There are various laws which stipulate legal
consequences, which in most cases expire after a maximum of five years
(e.g. exclusion from the right to vote for the duration of six months,
dismissal from military service or demotion of military personnel).
