b. Lvív, Ukraine (then Lemberg), March 14, 1864,
d. Vienna, May 25, 1913 (suicide), officer (colonel in the General
Staff Corps). General Staff training, 1907 deputy chief of the
registration office in the Imperial and Royal Ministry of War
(intelligence service). From 1912 chief of General Staff of the 8th
Imperial and Royal Corps in Prague. Was found to have been a Russian
spy for at least 10 years and was forced to commit suicide. Afterwards
an attempt was made to hush up the affair, but E. E. Kisch brought
the facts to public attention.
