Reichenau an der Rax, Lower Austria, market town in the district of 
Neunkirchen, alt. 484 m, pop. 3,481, area 89.46 km%%sup 2/%, 
climatic health resort, bi-seasonal tourism (130,288 overnight stays 
in 1992), situated on the River Schwarza, at the foot of Rax Mountain 
and Schneeberg Mountain. - Refugee hostel, sanatorium for the 
employees of the Lower Austrian provincial government, local theatre, 
summer festival (July), Thalhof sanatorium, Payerbach- Hirschwang 
historic railway line, small power station; reinforced concrete 
construction business, manufacture of furniture. In the cadastral 
district of Hirschwang, manufacture of cardboard boxes, sanatorium and 
training centre of the Chamber of Labour, Raxalpe cable car, forest 
administration office of the administrative authority of the City of 
Vienna, works management of the 1%%sup st/%  Vienna Spring Water 
Supply System (Kaiserbrunn water supply system museum). - Parish 
church (1846); castle (1645) with remains of a curtain wall; Villa 
Wartholz residence (1830); Wartholzkreuz cross (around 1500).
