Reichert, Carl, b. Sersheim (Germany), Dec. 26, 1851, 
d. Vienna, Dec. 12, 1922, optician, father of Karl  Reichert. 
Founded the "Optische Werke C. R." in Vienna in 1876; developed 
new lenses, illumination methods for microscopic equipment etc., 1909 
the thermal microscope and one of the first microscopes for the 
examination of metal surfaces.
