Reither, Josef, b. Langenrohr (Lower Austria), June 26, 1880, 
d. Tulln (Lower Austria), April 30, 1950, farmer and politician 
(Austrian Christian Socialist Party, OeVP). Official in various 
agricultural co-operatives, 1925-1938 and 1945-1949 president of the 
Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Austria, from 1928 chairman of the 
Farmers´ Association of Lower Austria, 1935-1938 of the 
Farmer´s Association of the Reich, 1931-1932, 1933-1938 and 
1945-1949 Landeshauptmann of Lower Austria, 1934-1935 Federal Minister 
of Agriculture and Forestry. Tried to mediate between the policies put 
forward by Dollfuss/Schuschnigg and the Social-Democrats. 1938-1941 
Dachau concentration camp, 1944-1945 Ravensbrueck concentration camp.
