!!!Residenzstädte Residence, Towns of (German: Residenzstaedte); towns in which dynasties or their collateral lines took up residence for a prolonged period of time. The most important town of residence in Austria is Vienna, but Innsbruck and Graz were also used as towns of residence by Habsburg collateral lines. Linz and Wiener Neustadt served as towns of residence for the Habsburg family for shorter periods of time, Salzburg was the residence of the prince archbishop. Smaller towns used as towns of residence were often greatly influenced by the resident powerful dynasties (e.g. Hohenems, Lienz and Eisenstadt). %%language [Back to the Austrian Version|AEIOU/Residenzstädte|class='wikipage austrian'] %% [{FreezeArticle author='AEIOU' template='Lexikon_1995_englisch'}] [{ALLOW view All}][{ALLOW comment All}][{ALLOW edit FreezeAdmin}]
