Vienna expressionist, member of the "Akademie Verband fuer Literatur und Musik", 1918 editor of the periodical "Daimon", 1920-1924 reader for "3-Masken" publishers in Munich; then lived in Italy and France. After the Anschluss founded together with F. Werfel, R. Musil and B. Walter the "Liga fuer das geistige Oesterrerich" in Paris; arrested by the Gestapo in April 1943.
