Richard, Dr., Verkehrsbetriebe KG, founded as a freight transport 
service in 1942. Reorganised as a passenger transport service by 
Ludwig Richard (b. Aug. 6, 1915) in 1945 (first scheduled bus service 
between Vienna and Jennersdorf). Operated 50 buses in 1965; has 
offered many scheduled services in Burgenland and the northern part of 
Lower Austria since 1967; regular services in the outer districts of 
Vienna are run in cooperation with the Wiener Verkehrsbetriebe (Vienna 
Public Transport System). As a result of business expansion the 
company has come to operate over 720 buses (1994), 500 of which are 
used for regular services, covering an annual distance of 
approximately 38 million kilometres.
