!!!Richter, Staatsorgane

Judge (German: Richter), officer of state in a law court (
Jurisdiction and Administration of Justice), responsible for the
administration of justice in civil and criminal matters. According to
the Austrian Constitution (Article 87 and 88 of the Federal
Constitution Act) judges are independent in the exercise of their
office and can be neither removed nor transferred. As stipulated in
the Richter-Dienstgesetz Federal Law Gazette 1961/305, judges are
trained in the law and employed by the state. All Austrian judges are
members of the Austrian Association of Judges (Richter-Vereinigung),
which was founded in 1907. In 2000, the number of judges employed in
Austria amounted to 1,700.
