North Carolina (USA), 1971-1995 director of the Department of Zoology 
at the University of Vienna; founder of the K. Lorenz institute for 
research into evolution and cognition in Altenberg (Lower Austria) 
1990. Dedicated fighter for the conservation of the natural 
environment.
