Tobogganing, organized in Austria by the Austrian Tobogganing 
Association (Oesterreichischer Rodelverband, OeRV), which was founded 
in 1945 and meanwhile consists of 296 clubs with 25,500 members 
(1994). Forerunner organization was the Association of German 
Tobogganing Clubs in Austria (Verband Deutscher Schlittensportvereine 
in Oesterreich), which was founded in Leoben in 1909. Competitions are 
carried out on natural and artificial toboggan runs. Single-seat 
competitions for women, for men also dual-seat competitions. Biggest 
Austrian successes during the past few years: D. Neuner was awarded 
the gold medal, her sister A. Neuner the silver medal at the 1992 
Olympic Winter Games in Albertville; M. Prock was awarded the silver 
medal, A. Tagwerker the bronze medal at the 1994 Olympic Winter Games 
in Lillehammer. M. Prock was awarded the world cup several times.
