Rohrau, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Bruck an der 
Leitha, alt. 148 m, pop. 1,224, area 20.48 km%%sup 2/%, on 
River Leitha, north-east of Bruck an der Leitha near the 
border with the province of Burgenland. - Gothic parish church, 
redecorated in Baroque style (14%%sup th/%  century) with Late Gothic 
choir, high altar (mid-18%%sup th/%  century); cemetery chapel; 
Crucifixion group (18%%sup th/%  century); palace (documented mention 
in 1230), former moated castle (16%%sup th/%  century), rectangular 
building dating from the second half of the 17%%sup th/%  century, 
façades dating from the late 18%%sup th/%  century, partly 
Empire-style interior, picture gallery of the Harrach family (biggest 
private collection in Austria, in Vienna until 1969). Haydn museum in 
the house where the composer was born.
