Rosegg, Carinthia, market town in the district of Villach Land, alt. 
477 m, pop. 1,592, area 19.16 km%%sup 2/%, summer resort 
(34,864 overnight stays in 1992); situated within a loop of the River 
Drau/Drava, southwest of Velden. Run-of-river power station of 
Rosegg-St. Jakob (erected in 1973, 80 megawatts); Forestry 
Inspectorate, tree nursery, game park; building trade, chicken farm. - 
Parish church (documented mention in 1069, reconstructed in 1819) with 
late Gothic choir; Rosegg Palace (around 1770-1775); ruin of the 
castle of Alt-Rosegg (documented mention in 1239); remains of the keep 
preserved.
